So I was seriously considering a Trans Am and out of nowhere two low mileage examples pop up in my area. There is a 2000 with the manual and 22,739 miles for $19,950. Then there’s a 2002 auto with 34,297 miles listed at $15,750. What’s throwing me off is that Cargurus is telling me the market value for that one is $19,399! These things were barely over $30k brand new in 2001! Ugh, I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come...thankfully it’s just the 2000 to 2002 models that seem to have bumped up market values.

Kinda messed up, right? It might be the low-mileage ones, but then again I’ve been seeing higher than expected prices on all the LS1 f-bodies I see on Craigslist.
The LT1 cars cost about the same or more than I paid for mine in 2005.
The 3rd gens are going up (at least the nice ones) as I expected. If only I had money and storage a while ago to keep some in...
On the bright side, GTO values also appear to be going up. That will be nice for me when I finally get around to selling. It’s also not motivating me to sell, lol.

You just now noticing that?
A billion years ago, I brought a V6 Firebird and decided to wait until prices for LS1s climbed down from $6k. They never did that, and the drought between the 4th and 5th gen Camaros, the death of Pontiac, and the $40-50k G8s and SSs combined to make things worse. So now I’m stuck in this dystopian hellscape future where LS1s will always require slightly more money then I always have. GAAAHHHH
But the New edge 4.6 Mustang is still here, which makes Not-even-V6 power-anymore and features big block gas mileage. So I’ve got that option. That’s good, right? (No, it isn’t)

Im starting to think that all cars (even hidden gems like 80s-90s) are getting caught in a resale bubble. I feel that saving and waiting for another recession may be a prudent decision. Believe me, it will happen. Anyone who says it wont probably slept through economics.

A few years ago my uncle sold a 2002 WS6 6 speed with 4800 miles that had the engine updated to whatever the Z06 had at the time for like $21k. I'm not surprised they're appreciating (or at least staying where they are), they're a good performance value and lots of em are junk already. People will pay for nice ones.

Should have bought one in 2008, haha. Or even better, the fire sale at the end of 2004. There were brand new ones selling for the low (veey low) 20's because no one wanted them. Even in early 2005-7 the LS2 cars were low 20's. And now the low mileage ones are advertised in the mid-20's. It’s ridiculous.

Bothers me a bit that I sold my 2000 WS6 before going off to school because I thought it would depreciate too much over the years. I sold it for probably the same price as it would be now however.
Loved that car...wish I held onto it.
